George Katsaros

George Katsaros

George Katsaros was born in 1888 and immigrated to the United States in 1913.  Already a musician in Greece, he spent a few years working on his new style and in 1917 began to play in Greek clubs in lower Manhattan.  His Rebetiko recordings in the United States influenced many future generations of Greek musicians.  He died in 1997 at 109 years of age.
