TANYA TAGAQ


Scream. Grunt. Growl. Groan. Flutter. Quiver. Howl.  Tanya Tagaq is a Canadian (Inuk) throat singer from Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, Canada, on the south coast of Victoria Island. She is best known both in Canada and internationally for her collaborations with Björk, including concert tours and the 2004 album Medúlla. She has also performed with the Kronos Quartet and Shooglenifty and featured on the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network. Tanya's performances are is known for delivering fearsome, elemental performances that are visceral and physical, heaving and breathing and alive. Her latest album Aninism won the 2014 Polaris Prize.
